Assignment #1 - Due July 1 at Class #5

Do the Ch. 2 Case Project & Project Proposal on pp. 24 & 25. Create the document as a Web page or with MS Word rather than Notepad as suggested on p. 25. Be as complete as possible by including several sentences or more for each of the bold items on p. 25. Your explanation of target audience should include any generalities regarding age, gender, web surfing abilities, screen resolution, color resolution, operating system, web browser, installed plug-ins, etc.

Save this file onto an otherwise blank floppy disk labeled with your name and the phrase "Ch. 2 Case Project p. 24".

Assignment #2 - Due July 6 at Class #6

Do the second paragraph of Ch. 3 Case Project on p. 86. Also,

On one or more pieces of paper, draw your site's flowchart. The site will only have to include 5 to 6 pages. Show the actual file names and the existence of folders but you do not have to follow the ISO 9660 standard (i.e. 8.3 filenames). Use one or two-headed arrows to indicate the user's ability to navigate from page to page. Your summary that describes the flowchart must explain why you chose the particular structure that you did, how it suits your content, and how it benefits the user.

Assignment #3 - Due July 8 at Class #7

Identify one famous, corporate Web site (e.g. ford.com, walmart.com, etc.) that uses each of the following navigation systems.

Thoroughly analyze and explain the usability and accessibility of the navigation system of each Web site in separate paragraphs by answering questions such as: Is it confusing? Does it obscure or hide links? Does it match the apparent structure of the web site?

Printout each web page and staple these pages to your page with the analysis paragraphs. Print the exact URL address of each Web page on its printout.

Assignment #4 - Due August 3 at Class #14

Submit one of your Final Project Web Site's pages that contains the site's navigation system. The page itself does not have to be finished. It may contain placeholder graphics, dummy Latin text, etc. But the navigation bar or navigation system must be complete. The links should work except for the fact that they may link to dummy pages. Submit the file(s) on a labelled floppy disk along with a printout of the Web page and its HTML source.

Assignment #5 - Due August 5 at Class #15

Find one famous, corporate Web site (e.g. ford.com, walmart.com, etc.) that uses each of the following kinds of text

Printout the Web page that contains the HTML text formatted with one or more <font> tag attributes as well as its HTML source. Underline or highlight one occurrence of the <font> tag attribute in the HTML source. Highlight or circle the actual text on the Web page printout that matches the occurrence of the <font> tag in the HTML source. Make sure that the URL address of the Web page is clearly printed at the top or bottom of each printout.

Printout the Web page that contains HTML text formatted with an externally-linked CSS stylesheet as well as its HTML source. Highlight or circle one occurrence of the style being used in the HTML source and highlight or circle the actual text in the Web page printout that matches the use of the CSS style. Also, printout the externally-linked stylesheet and underline or highlight the class definition that is used to format the text. Make sure that the URL address of the Web page is clearly printed at the top or bottom of each printout.

Printout the Web page that contains the graphical text as well as its HTML source and highlight or circle the <img> tag as well as its occurrence on the Web page printout. Make sure that the URL address of the Web page is clearly printed at the top or bottom of the printout.

Staple all 6 or more pages in the order that they are described above.
