nameplate or banner - top portion of the
newsletter
issue information line - contained in the banner,
tells date and issue
rules or ruling lines - the horizontal
lines in the nameplate
subhead - a heading within the body of the
newsletter
vertical rule - a vertical line dividing two
columns
wrap-around text - the text that wraps around the
graphic
run-around - the space between the graphic and the
words

Terms
ANSI characters - a predefined set of
characters, including both characters on the keyboard and special characters, such as the
bullet symbol
parallel columns - table columns, created
with the Insert Table button
snaking columns - newspaper columns, flows
from the bottom of one column to the top of the next
justified - the left and the right margins
are aligned
dropped capital letter, or drop cap -
appears larger than the rest of the characters in the paragraph
column break - ends a column
next page section break - forces the article
to continue on the next page
text box - positions pull-quotes between
columns
