Mar 31, 2004

  1. Demonstration of MF's web site and how he plans to use it.
  2. Be able to list 2 examples of lessons that you have delivered of how technology is used to effectively enrich the learning environment.
  3. Textbook inventory - BA (36 Excel; 34 Word; ?? Access), LM (?? Excel; ?? Word; ?? Access), CM (?? VB; ?? CCE; ?? Big Java)
  4. (if time) Review of computer copyright & ethics.
  5. (CM) Demonstrate how to use online testing with ExamView. Perhaps we can use this for an ethics quiz.
  6. (BA, LM, CM) Discuss the format, content, and delivery issues of the Applied I Course-by-Credit exam. MK is going to discuss the Applied I Course-by-Credit exam with the other counselors. As long as a student has an A in 8th grade Word Processing and the instructor's approval, they will be able to take the exam by arrangement.
  7. (BA, LM, CM) Discuss our scope & sequence for Applied I & II. Consider making Applied II a course that preps students for MOUS certification, possibly using SAM.
  8. Review peers2peers.org. Eventually it will contain lesson plans focusing on digital piracy.
  9. Next meeting will be held on Apr 28 at 2:30 pm in Room 202.
  10. CM's To-Do List: update inventory #'s of new Word, Excel, & Access books, print selected questions from ethics quizzes & circulate to dept members to generate Wyo customized questions. Review & revise the 7-9th grade computer curriculum. Any necessary changes due to incoming students' abilities? Reference against National standards. Also, review & evaluate K-6 curriculum. Get list of elementary software from Janet K & Gail P. & refine the scope & sequence.

Feb. 25, 2004:

  1. The PA Computer Fair Contest at BCIU on will be held in April. Think about sponsoring students. See the poster in Room 202.
  2. Discuss any general issues regarding next year's Bus/Comp budget. I'll need to submit budget requisitions around the time of our next dept meeting. All purchases must be "preplanned" in the future.
  3. (CM & MF) demonstration of Web authoring and uploading a Web page with Dreamweaver.
  4. Next meeting will be held on Mar 31 at 2:30 pm in Room 202.

Jan. 28, 2004:

  1. Finish up technology proposals. "Brainstorm any ways that technology could be used to enhance our courses. List software additions that would enhance our curriculum. Elaborate technology solutions that can be used to enhance our curriculum."
  2. Any course scheduling problems or issues?
  3. (BA) Are you writing Accounting II, Applied II, & Applied III next summer (2004)?
  4. Next meeting will be held on Feb 25 at 2:30 pm in Room 202.
Dec. 10, 2003:
  1. How to make worksheets out of screen snapshots on a PC.
  2. CM update on trip to Manheim Township.
  3. CM & MF update on Nov 4 District Technology Committee meeting.
  4. Will students be allowed to change passwords and then privately share the password with their teacher?
  5. MK is going to allow 10th graders to take Applied I but this will only be publicized in parent-counselor meetings, etc. and not in the course book, so far at least. MK is going to discuss the Applied I Course-by-Credit exam with the other counselors. As long as a student has an A in 8th grade Word Processing and the instructor's approval, they will be able to take the exam by arrangement.
  6. Be ready to forward your class rosters with individual course recommendations for EVERY student to BH & the counselors. I will not be forwarding this reminder around the dep't this year.

  2. (BA, LM, CM) Discuss our scope & sequence for Applied II & III. Applied III will now teach web design. Consider making Applied II a course that preps students for MOUS certification, possibly using SAM.
  3. (BA, LM, CM) Discuss further the possibility of making Applied Computers I a requirement for either 9th OR 10th grade as well as giving the option of placement by exam in 2004-05.
  4. (BA, LM) Are any students only taking Applied I or Applied II, 4 days per week? If so, did you approve the situation?
Sept. 24, 2003:
  1. Please review the course descriptions in the 2003-04 Course Book for the courses that you teach. They must be submitted ASAP. Are the prerequisites for the courses you teach up-to-date (e.g. student must attend class 5 days per week, student must earn C or better in course #???)?
  2. Were there any scheduling problems as far as max class size and # of computers in your lab? What is the revised # of available computer workstation for student use?
  3. Discuss budget requisitions. Did everything come in over the summer that you ordered?
  4. List and prioritize your technology needs for the IT staff next summer while it's fresh in our minds. Will we need another 3 hrs for network prep?
  5. Has our Spring 2003 "wish list" been fulfilled?
  6. Since student passwords are very easy to "figure out", does anyone see a problem with students being able to change their passwords? How will we deal with it if they suddenly forget their password?
  7. Don't forget about the Principal's Advisory Committee Survey forms.
  8. Next meeting will be held on Oct 29 at 2:30 pm in Room 202.
  9. (BA & LM) Please forward me the inventory #'s of new Word, Excel, & Access books. The remainder of the Excel books will be arriving this week.
  10. (BA & LM) Any problems connecting to Web thru Word or Excel?
  11. (BA, LM, & CM) Review the use of "HandOut" (aka shared) & "HandIn" (aka submit) network folders. The HandOut folder should be working. The HandIn folder may take awhile for TS & DB to figure out.
  12. (BA & LM) Submit textbook inventory lists. Do you need any more Applied Computer & other textbooks based on this year's enrollment?
