2004-2005 Department Meetings

May 25, 2005:

  1. BA, see my VB credit by exam contract.
  2. Review of computer copyright & ethics. Take our quiz.
  3. Demonstrate how to use online testing with ExamView.
  4. Introduction to wikipedia and MiniWiki.
  5. BA, MF, & CM will be going to NECC conference in Philly on June 27-30, 2005. Is everyone registered?
  6. Textbook inventory - BA (36 Excel; 34 Word; ?? Access), LM (?? Excel; ?? Word; ?? Access), CM (?? VB; ?? CCE; ?? Big Java)
  7. Course curriculum rewrites: Advanced Speed Typing (#574) will be written by LM this summer (2005). Applied Computers I (#501) & Intro to Computer Applications (#582) will be written by LM after the "K-12 writing occurs."
  8. (BA, LM, CM) Discuss the format, content, and delivery issues of the Applied I Course-by-Credit exam. MK is going to discuss the Applied I Course-by-Credit exam with the other counselors. As long as a student has an A in 8th grade Word Processing and the instructor's approval, they will be able to take the exam by arrangement.
  9. Review peers2peers.org. Eventually it will contain lesson plans focusing on digital piracy

Mar 30, 2005:

  1. Submit budget requisitions for things that you need in September soon. They are due on April 15.

Feb. 23, 2005:

  1. The budget is frozen for 2004-05 as of today Feb 23. Submit any last minute requisitions now.
  2. Any new curriculum budget requests (replacement textbooks or computer hardware) for next year? They are due today.
  3. BA, LM Do you have any unique budget requests for next year? If not, we will be making the same "budget allocation" for next year.
  4. Anyone writing curriculum this summer? Yes, LM is writing 7th Speed Typ (574), 8th Word Proc (582), & 9th Applied I (501) while MF is writing Multimedia III.
  5. Any ideas for staff dev'ment options that CM can propose to the Janet and the Staff Development Committee for next year? They were due to Janet on 2/18 but won't be discussed by the committee until Mar 1.
  6. Review the topics discussed at the last HS Technology subcommittee meeting.

  1. Discuss any general issues regarding next year's Bus/Comp budget. I'll need to submit budget requisitions around the time of our next dept meeting. All purchases must be "preplanned" in the future.
  2. Be ready to forward your class rosters with individual course recommendations for EVERY student to BH & the counselors. I will not be forwarding this reminder around the dep't this year.
  3. Any recommendations for Brian, Mike, or me to bring to the HS Tech. Subcommittee on Feb. 9?

  1. Were there any scheduling problems as far as max class size and # of computers in your lab? What is the revised # of available computer workstation for student use in each lab?
