- If you tutor a student be sure to communicate with the student's other subject teacher that you are doing so.
- Anyone interested in competing in lifesmarts.org or competing in the computer fair this year?
- What courses in our dept are in most need to be mapped into TechPathways? How many hours will each course take? When - this summer or farther into future? By whom - one person per
course or teams of teachers? What pay rate?
CM's recommendations
since we each teach our own courses, we would each rewrite our courses into techpathways
we prefer to rewrite them over the summer
we prefer to earn up to 40 hours per full year course at the cocurricular rate of approx $30/hr
priority: AS's courses, MF's courses, CM's courses, BA's courses, LM's courses
- Take a tour of techpathways at wyomissing.pa.techpaths.com and watch CM add a Unit and some essential questions.
- What plans do we have for 2 hours of in-service on Jan 30? LFS review & sharing, curriculum mapping into TechPathways, vertical articulation w/ elem, specific technology issues.
Be prepared to write up a list of units and subunits for each of the courses that you teach.
CM's recommendations
show & tell graphic organizers & learn to use Visio or the software that Tim recommended
share EQ's that we've used
demo techpathways and practice entering units & EQ's
join a math dept member for any of the items above
Official Plans for Jan 30
for first hour - share units & subunits in K-12 vertical articulation
for second hour - start curriculum mapping process in groups of 10-20
- Budget freeze on Mar 1 2008.
- Keep your eye out for students swapping files with each other via their "public" network folders.
- Update course selection catalog and eliminate prerequisites in electives where possible. Maybe we can make a graphical flow chart illustrating course sequences to add to the catalog.
- Discuss HL 2004 PSSA PowerPoint presentation & stats. How do our subjects relate to PSSA results?
Oct 24, 2007 -
- In 08-09: Submit budget requests for curriculum-related (new courses, new textbooks, software licenses) or physical needs (stools, chairs, desks, chalkboards) NOW!
- In 08-09: Ask for increase in Tech Ed's budget allocation to help meet needs of Siggins' course rewrites.
- Learn how to access student files including mapping a drive to the student folder at "//osiris/sechomes"
- First Quarter grades must be entered by 3:30 pm on Mon Nov 5. Second Quarter grades must be entered by 3:30 pm Tue Jan 22. It is your responsibility to enter grades into eSchoolBook
in a timely fashion. If you have a special, comprehensive, large assignment that will take awhile to grade, you must alert students of this in the assignment specs. Do we want to make any department
rules for grading deadlines & expectations? We decided that none were necessary for our dep't at this time. Teachers will make things clear with students.
- If you want to cut a student who would be ineligible for sports a break, check the "NG" checkbox. Any other typing or even a cursor placed in a blank box will make that
assignment count as a zero. It's recommended that you use Firefox rather than IE when entering grades.
- Update course selection catalog and eliminate prerequisites in electives where possible. We should make some flow chart graphics illustrating course sequences to add to the catalog.
This will make it easier for students and parents to understand the sequences. Dep't members noted that students are regularly placed in courses without having taken the listed prerequisites anyway.
The question was asked if typing is being taught in WREC 5th or 6th grade?
- Any update on the Tech Ed enrollment vs classroom space issue? No, but if it's tied to the new t.v. studio then it's probably on the back burner.
- Does everyone have a copy of the curriculum for every course that they teach? Yes.
- Troubleshoot & share tips Altiris Vision. It is working correctly for BA.
Sept 12, 2007 -
- Update school profile sheet & return to Mrs Gruver/Mrs Kreps
- Yearbook pix taken of AS, MF, & CM
- Do you have prerequisites in electives that you teach?
- How are your enrollment numbers relative to classroom size or number of computers?
