Mr. Minich's Room 202 Computer Use Policy

All students must follow certain rules regarding file management & use of the school's network. Infractions of this policy will likely result in punishments including detention, suspension, and/or expulsion.

  1. Students are not permitted to use or attempt to use another network users account or password. Students are responsible for keeping their passwords secure.
  2. All student files must be saved to his or her own My Documents folder or USB flash drive. No files may be saved or stored on a local hard drive (C:) or another network folder.
  3. Students are not to create or store personal files that are unrelated to school work. Extraneous files or folders may be removed by a teacher or administrator at any time.
  4. If a student finds an unrecognizable file or folder in his or her network folder at any time, he or she must alert the teacher immediately.
  5. All students are required to log off the network when finished using a computer. If a student fails to properly log off the network, it may be interpreted as cheating or using the school's network irresponsibly.
  6. Students should not customize or even attempt to customize their desktop, which includes making shortcuts, rearranging the Start menu, changing the wallpaper of the desktop, etc.
  7. Viewing or attempting to view pages that are unrelated to a class assignment is prohibited.
  8. The use of any game, website, or program that is unrelated to a class assignment is prohibited.
  9. The use of any technology or protocols such as proxy servers, email, instant messaging, FTP, and telnet are strictly prohibited even if done so within a Visual Basic, Java, or C++ program.
  10. Students are not allowed to download applications or installers without the teacher's explicit permission.
  11. Students are not allowed to send, receive, or view email, chat, instant messages, or other types of direct communication without the teacher's explicit permission.
  12. Students are not allowed to open, attempt to open, or view computer and network folders that are not directly related to a class assignment. Just as you would not enter and explore a principal's office or a restroom for the opposite gender, you must not open or explore network folders and files out of curiosity.
  13. Any inappropriate or disrespectful use of the computer equipment, desks, or chairs will not be tolerated. Treat these objects as if they were your own and paid for with your own money.

Students must create & maintain the following basic folder structure within his or her network folder.
