Newsletter Assignment

Every computer student must contribute an article to the class newsletter each marking period. The topic of the article may be:

of computer science-related general interest (see this page for even more ideas),
a current events topic related to computer technology,
an explanation and/or description of a class assignment or topic,
a summary of a survey that you conducted on a computer science-related question(s),
an interview of someone who uses computer technology in the workplace,
a career choice or college major related to computer technology,
or any other topic approved by the teacher. Some websites with technology current events are Wired News, ZDNet, slashdot , & Google News (click on Sci/Tech)
:If you are unsure that your topic fits the suggestions above, see the teacher BEFORE you write the article.

The article must be at least 150 words. You can copy and paste your article into wordcounttool.com or use a function in Microsoft Word to automatically count the number of words. You must use the default Microsoft Word font, paragraph, tab, and margin settings. Make sure the article is single-spaced. Give the article a meaningful title and include the phrase "by John D Per 8 Visual Basic" on the line after the title (but substitute YOUR first name and last initial there along with your period number and class name). Skip a blank line before the first line of the body of the article. For example,

Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft
by John D Per 8 Visual Basic

Once upon a time there was a brilliant man with a vision. He went to Harvard, dropped out, and became the richest man in the world with a fortune of over $90 billion.

You must save the file as "Article Quarter 1 John D Per 8 Visual Basic" in your "Other" network My Documents folder (using your first name and last initial and the appropriate marking period, class period, and class name). The due date for each marking period's article is the fifth school day before the end of the marking period. Do not plagarize any other sources including the Internet. The article can be either informational or persuasive with your personal but thoughtful comments and opinions. You will be graded on content, spelling, grammar, and how well you follow these specifications.

By the due date, you must also copy and paste the article into the appropriate online wiki class newsletter at http://wiki.wyoarea.org/groups/minich4 (Mr. Minich - Computer Science Wiki). Place your article below the others that are submitted there. Do not edit or delete any other students' articles. You can add hyperlinks using the wiki editing tools.
